BIOGRAPHY RENE BRUNNER

Rene Brunner, better known as DJ DC, was born in Wels, Upper Austria. Even at a young age, he would blast music in his bedroom. One day, when he was 17 years old, he visited a small bar in Wels and struck up a conversation with the owner. Upon realizing Rene’s passion for music and his knowledge of electronic music genres, DJ DC was born. Within the same week, he landed his first DJ gig. As time went on, he caught the attention of other clubs, and soon he was being booked for performances at larger venues. In 2004, he became the resident DJ at the famous Empire Club in Linz, where he played for over 10 years.

During his time at the Empire Club, Rene conceived the idea for his first DJ world record attempt called „The Longest Marathon Club DJing“ – the longest DJ set without a break – and he broke the record in Steyr, Upper Austria. The initial world record was 76 hours. Once other DJs around the world heard about this Guinness World Record, some attempted to break it themselves. Many failed, but a few succeeded. However, DJ DC continued to surpass the record time and again. In 2010, he received an invitation from a club in the United States to set a world record there. In the same year, DJ DC flew to the U.S. and broke the record at the Sutra Club in Costa Mesa, playing an incredible 120 hours, even receiving good luck wishes from Arnold Schwarzenegger, a fellow Austrian.

Soon, DJ DC gained international recognition, and performances at clubs all over the world beckoned. He played in Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Brazil, and many other countries. To this day, he continues to tour as a DJ worldwide. In 2011, he reached an agreement with the Yost Theater in Santa Ana to set another world record. This time, he played for an astounding 150 hours, which secured his entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. Following this achievement, he was invited to cities such as Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston, and Hawaii to perform as a DJ, and he continues to do so regularly. In Hawaii, in 2015, he set his most recent world record of 199 hours.

DJ DC continues to tour clubs, showcasing his unique style of electronic music. Recently, the idea emerged to perform a 222-hour DJ set in Tokyo, and the preparations are currently underway. In August 2023, DJ DC will undertake this record attempt.
